On 2 June 2026, on the sidelines of the 35th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Vienna, a hybrid side event entitled “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies in Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime” was held. A representative of ROCB Europe participated in the event online.
The event brought together representatives of law enforcement agencies, international organizations, diplomatic missions, and the expert community to discuss modern technological solutions aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of efforts to combat transnational organized crime and illicit drug trafficking.
During the main session, several projects were presented, demonstrating how the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies creates new opportunities for analyzing large volumes of data, forecasting criminal trends, and timely identifying threats related to illicit drug trafficking. Particular attention was paid to the prospects of establishing a unified digital platform for the rapid exchange of information among the competent authorities of different countries.
At the conclusion of the event, participants reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation and sharing best practices in order to enhance the effectiveness of joint efforts to ensure security and combat transnational organized crime.
The side event demonstrated the strong interest of the international community in the use of modern digital solutions and artificial intelligence to address emerging challenges and threats in the field of drug-related crime.
