The visit provided a valuable opportunity to exchange views on the evolving role of the World Customs Organization's Regional Offices for Capacity Building (ROCBs) and to discuss Brazil's new role as host of the ROCB for the Americas and the Caribbean, following the recent Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Government of Brazil and the World Customs Organization.
Discussions focused on the strategic contribution of the ROCBs in supporting WCO Members through regional capacity-building initiatives, promoting knowledge sharing and facilitating the implementation of WCO standards and tools. Participants also explored opportunities for enhanced cooperation among the six WCO Regional Offices for Capacity Building.
The meeting highlighted the importance of strengthening dialogue, sharing good practices and developing joint initiatives across regions. Closer cooperation among the ROCBs can contribute to more effective and coordinated capacity-building efforts while reinforcing the WCO's regionalization strategy and supporting the continued evolution of its regional operational network.
ROCB Europe believes that regular exchanges among the Regional Offices can serve as an effective platform for innovation, mutual learning and strategic coordination, ultimately enhancing the support provided to Customs administrations worldwide.
ROCB Europe expresses its sincere appreciation to Mr Coelho and Mr Moraes for the constructive discussions and looks forward to continuing and expanding cooperation with the ROCB for the Americas and the Caribbean in the years ahead.
